2012 Book Challenges: January

Yes another year of books. New year means new challenges. This will be our first year participating in some of this amazing book challenges. Gabrielle and Ivy have come up with their own because they couldn't find a challenge that fits their style of reading.

We can't put our challenges on just one page so, we separated them. All of the Seekers, are joining on Debut Author and To-Be-Read Pile Challenges. However on Sophomore Reading, Completely Contemp, and Inside the Covers Challenges, we are splitting between the six of us.

So onto the challenges:

Here's our list of January books we are reading:
  • The Gathering Storm by Robin Bridges (Alice)
  • Fracture by Megan Miranda (Danny)
  • Everneath by Brodi Ashton (Emilia)
  • The Alchemy of Forever by Avery Williams (Gabrielle)
  • Halflings by Heather Burch (Ivy)
  • Incarnate by Jodi Meadows (Sarah)

There is just a bunch of books that we wanted to read last year but couldn't. Now we have a reason to! The point of this challenge is read those books you said you were going to read but never did. You know how you won a book or bought book, and put on your shelf, and just let it sit there. Now's the chance to get that book out and read it.

Here's our list of books we are reading this month for this challenge:
  • Matched by Ally Condie (Emilia)
  • Shattered Dreams by Ellie James (Danny)
  • Unleashed by Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie (Gabrielle)
  • The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder (Sarah)

Only Sarah and Alice are participating in this challenge. They are still working towards what books they want to read towards this challenge. The point of this challenge is bring more contemporary books into your life. You can read books from 2010, 2011, and 2012.

Sarah and Alice picked the number 8. So they are reading.

8 published in 2010
8 published in 2011
8 published in 2012

Here's the list of January books they are reading:
  • The Whole Story of Half a Girl by Veera Hiranandani (Alice)
  • The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder (Sarah)

Only Emilia and Danny are participating on this challenge. They sure have big plans and already picked out a lot of books to read throughout the year. The point for this challenge is to read second books, rather it be a sequel or an author's second release.

Here's a list of their January picks:
  • Hallowed by Cynthia Hand (Emilia)
  • New Girl by Paige Harbison (Danny)
2012 Inside the Covers Challenge
Hosted by: Gaby & Ivy @ The Story Seekers

This is just a challenge for Gaby and Ivy, who wanted something of their own. The point for this challenge is to read 2012 books because of their gorgeous covers. Search the bookstore, library, or online and find the best cover and then read it. Find out if it's actually worth the cover.

The cover giveaway we are doing right now was inspired by them. We will be doing the same thing next month with new Febraury releases.

Here's their list of January books they are reading towards this challenge:
  • Jessica's Rules the Dark Side by Beth Fantaskey (Gabrielle)
  • Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler (Ivy)

  1. Nice challenges! I'm also doing the Debut Author challenge and am going to sign up for the sophomore challenge and I think I'll sign up for y'alls Inside the Cover Challenge. It sounds really interesting and I'm a sucker for a pretty cover! :)
