Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

In this thrilling debut young adult novel, the first of a quartet, Marissa Meyer introduces readers to an unforgettable heroine and a masterfully crafted new world that’s enthralling.
Cinderella is most known for her lost shoe, but Cinder is known for her mechanical foot.
The prince straightened, forcing her gaze to follow him.

“You’re not quite what I was expecting.”
Cinderella is a cyborg!! Brilliant! The idea itself is amazing but will the story and characters be amazing as well… Hell yes!

Not only is this a futuristic retelling of Cinderella, Marissa has add things to the original fairytale. There’s an evil queen, a friendly step-sister, a new world, and of course the half human, half robot Cinderella. I think Marissa is the beginning of a new trend, and she started it off with a bang.

The author does keep some things from the original story. Cinder does the hard labor for her stepmother and sisters, by running a local mechanic shop. She is known for her skills on fixing anything technical and mechanical. Instead mice or birds, Cinder has friend in a tiny robot named Iko who I really did love. And then the Prince!

Instead of being a side character, Prince Kai is a main character in this one. He has a lot on his plate. A worldwide plague, called letumosis, has caused problems for many characters in this tale. Prince Kai’s father has it. The prince has his doctors looking for a cure, but they been searching for long time, and it looks like Prince Kai will be the new emperor.

Another thing that Marissa added, a world located on the moon with people known as Lunars. I love how Marissa created this world, and with all her spot on details, I can picture everything as if I was there. This is where the evil queen is from. The Lunar race is quite different and really powerful, they kind of scare me but there are a few good ones out there!

I love the ending! It was a cliff-hanger and we will have to wait until the next book to see what happens Cinder, Kai, and all the other characters.

So Cinder in a few words: Beautiful, haunting, and utterly fantastic!
The series is not over yet, but I can’t wait for the many books to come. As always, check Marissa’s blog or twitter for news on Cinder and the Lunar Chronicles. Or you can become a fan of the series facebook, and read an excerpt from the book.
And here on the Story Seekers, we are giving away not 1, not 2, but 3 copies of Cinder away to 3 lucky people! Come back January 28 for all the details!
