Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days.
The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.
The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war-- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.
Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.
In this electrifying debut, Tahereh Mafi presents a world as riveting as The Hunger Games and a superhero story as thrilling as The X-Men. Full of pulse-pounding romance, intoxicating villainy, and high-stakes choices, Shatter Me is a fresh and original dystopian novel—with a paranormal twist—that will leave readers anxiously awaiting its sequel.
You should… – Buy it!!

Judge the Cover – Breath-taking beautiful, and it feels more of a movie poster than a book cover. I understand why her hands are covered because her touch is deadly and powerful.
A Little Teaser – I don’t know what I’ve done. I obviously don’t know what I’m capable of because I had no idea I could destroy anything at all and I’m suddenly so terrified so terrified so terrified of my own two hands. I stumble backward, stunned, and catch Warner watching me hungrily, eagerly, his emerald eyes bright with boyish fascination.
Review – I actually got an ARC for this book during ShatterDay, an event to celebrate the upcoming release for Shatter Me. Before I won though, they let us read the first 25 chapters of the story, and then Barnes & Noble gave us chapter 26, with all of that combined I needed to read the entire book.
This book is fantastic. Tahereh’s writing draws you in, and her descriptions create a new world. Juliette’s voice, for me, was hard to get into at first but after the first couple of chapters, my mind was reeling at how amazing this book was written. I sped through the first half of the book quickly, because I love everything about Juliette.
After I received the ARC, and did a little dance, I sat down to reread it but I never finished it. I think I only made it chapter 30, and got caught up with other things, that I never got around to finishing it until now.
The book was even better the third time round and this time I can say I actually finish it!! The complete story was just mind-blowing. If you haven’t read it yet, then go pick it up.
The characters were amazing as well. We have Adam and Juliette and all of their intense moments. Juliette can’t touch anyone because when she does she kills them. However, Adam can touch her and isn’t affected by her gift/curse. At first, I was thinking of course his able to touch her, and I kind of didn’t like that as the story. Even though every time they touch, and Juliette goes through this emotions, because she never thought she would touch by anyone. Adam completes her.
But then, Warner (the bad guy) can touch her as well. That got me excited! I know that sounds bad but it really does make the story more exciting because Warner is obsessed with her. He will do anything to have her on his side.
I know this book is set in the future, but I didn’t really think about it being in the future. I was thinking more about the supernatural part of the story, because you really can’t ignore it. Juliette is one of my favorite characters of all time. Can't wait for the sequel, and the movie because this will make a really awesome epic movie!! I just hope they portray Juliette well.
